Here are the common prostate problems:The problem that is very common is the acute prostatitis that is a common infection of the prostate gland caused by bacteria. The infection develops fast because of the fact that bacteria multiply rapidly. The symptoms for this problem are the pain in the lower back and between the legs, chills, fever. The recommended methods of treatment include drinking more liquids and antibiotics that can heal the infection.

Chronic prostatitis is a problem that occurs from time to time. The symptoms might last longer than the symptoms from acute prostatitis. This problem is harder to treat. If bacteria are causing the infection one good treatment is by using antibiotics. Alternative methods of treatment are worm baths and massaging the area where the prostate is located.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is very common in older men and refers to the enlarged prostate. The enlarged prostate might produce problems when urinating because it might block the urine flow. At night this might get very uncomfortable because it might cause frequent needs for urinating. The methods of investigating these problems are the rectal exam, and tests of the urethra, and bladder.

At the early stages doctors might recommend to wait and see if the condition improves. The medicines used to relax muscles near prostate are doxasozin and terazosin. These medicines can produce side effects such as tiredness, dizziness and headaches. Medicines that reduce the male hormone such as finasteride might shrink the prostate. Surgery is the last option to treat BPH. There are three types of surgery used to treat BPH. This are: open surgery, transurethral incision, transurethral resection.

The common signs that might indicate prostate problems are: the presence of blood in the urine or in the semen, difficulty in urinating, frequent urge to urinate, difficulty in having an erection, burning or painful urination, painful ejaculation, inability to urinate, pain in the lower back, upper thighs or hips, the dribbling of urine. In advanced cases of prostate problems the treatments might not be so efficient.
